On October 10, 2024, the Jumbo Orient Charity Foundation sponsored an elderly trip organized by the Po Leung Kuk Shek Kip Mei Community Services Centre to visit the Po Lin Monastery on Lantau Island. This event aims to promote vegetarian culture and organize outdoor activities for the elderly, encouraging them to engage in more outdoor activities to enhance health and social interaction.
The weather that day was clear and breezy, adding a pleasant atmosphere to our trip. Volunteers from Jumbo Orient Contracting Limited joined the staff of the community services centre to lead fifty-two elderly participants on a coach to the monastery.
At the Po Lin Monastery, everyone first enjoyed a delicious vegetarian meal, followed by free time to explore. The elderly participants expressed deep gratitude for this trip, and from the moment of registration, their anticipation and excitement filled the entire event. During the activity, everyone chatted and laughed, their faces glowing with satisfied smiles as they shared joyful moments together.
After the event, everyone took the coach back to Shek Kip Mei, filled with gratitude and joy, having spent a wonderfully meaningful day with the elderly.
